MILL CREEK, WV — Valley Health Care is proud to announce the relaunch of its behavioral health services at Tygarts Valley Middle/High School and Elkins High School this fall, made possible by the addition of two experienced and compassionate providers: Brandy English, LPC, and Valerie Wenzel, PMHNP.
This initiative underscores Valley Health Care’s commitment to addressing the mental and emotional well-being of students by providing access to high-quality behavioral healthcare directly within the school environment. Together, English and Wenzel bring decades of combined experience in counseling, psychiatry, trauma-informed care, and school-based support.
“We are thrilled to be revitalizing our behavioral health presence in the schools,” said Dr. Jennifer Beverage, DO, Chief Medical Officer at Valley Health Care. “By bringing Brandy and Valerie on board, we’re strengthening our commitment to whole-person care and ensuring that students receive consistent, compassionate mental health support where they learn and grow.”
Brandy M. English, LPC, is a licensed professional counselor and nationally certified with over a decade of experience serving youth, families, and communities throughout the region. Her work has focused on student well-being, school-based therapy, and outreach in both clinical and educational settings.
“I’m honored to support students and families in our local schools,” said English. “Being present and available during the school day makes a real difference in how students experience and access mental health care.”
Valerie Wenzel, PMHNP, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who will support students through psychiatric assessment, medication management, and individualized care plans. Her holistic and collaborative approach makes her an excellent fit for integrated care within the school system.
“It’s exciting to be part of a team that understands the importance of mental health in the school environment,” said Wenzel. “I look forward to partnering with students, parents, and educators to make a lasting impact.”
With this relaunch, Valley Health Care is making it easier for students to get the help they need at school, offering support that helps them stay focused, healthy, and ready to learn. By combining school-based health services with expanded behavioral health care, Valley Health Care is working to keep children in school, in their communities, and on track for long-term success.
